Shifting the Paradigm of Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship Training
On the July episode of the Heart Failure Beat, we celebrate the graduation of newly-minted advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologists. Michael and Priya welcome doctors Matthew Colna, Lekha Racharla, Benjamin Stoner, and Anas Jawaid to reflect on their PGY-7 year and look ahead on their first year as cardiology attendings. The group discussed the gap between an increased need of heart failure management and a declining interest in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology training. As the next generation of advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologists, the graduating fellows provided first-hand insights and suggestions in hopes to improve the fellowship curriculum, so it could better reflect and serve the clinical needs of our heart failure patients. On From Failure to Function, Priya reviews the EFFORT and CAST-HF trials. And on Heart Failure Rounds, Michael discusses Arrhythmia-Induced Cardiomyopathy in Patients With Tachyarrhythmia and Idiopathic HF and a Randomized Trial of Cholesterol Lowering With Evolocumab.
