Dr. Mehra is the William Harvey Distinguished Chair in Advanced Cardiovascular Medicine, a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Executive Director of the Center for Advanced Heart Disease at Mass General Brigham Heart in Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He served as founding Medical Director of the Heart and Vascular Center (2013-2019) at Brigham Health and was Editor-in-Chief, The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, which rose to #1 ranked journal in its field under his leadership (2010-2020). Dr. Mehra has uniquely served as President of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT, 2008) and President of the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA, 2016), both premier societies in the field of advanced heart disease in the world. In service to the HFSA, his tenure has included Program Committee Chair, Treasurer, President-elect and President. He has authored well over 500 scholarly papers with a specific focus on Advanced Heart Failure with numerous practice changing contributions. In addition, Dr. Mehra has been conferred an Honorary Master’s degree from Harvard University and a certificate in Executive leadership from the Harvard Business School. He also earned a Master of Science in Health Economics and Management at the London School of Economics in 2018, a degree earned through his designation as a “Braunwald Scholar”.
