Membership Growth at HFSA

The Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) advances heart failure care through research, education and professional development. As heart failure remains a significant global health challenge, HFSA's efforts to grow its membership base reflect its commitment to uniting professionals and stakeholders in the fight against this debilitating condition. The society's strategic focus on expanding its membership aligns with its mission to enhance heart failure management and improve patient outcomes.

Membership growth is critical for HFSA as it provides a broader platform for knowledge dissemination, collaborative research and advocacy. A growing membership base ensures that the society can leverage a diverse range of expertise, enhance its influence in the field and ultimately drive innovations in heart failure treatment. Members include physicians, nurses, pharmacists, PAs, patients, and other stakeholders dedicated to advancing heart failure care.

I am very proud of the significant growth in membership at HFSA over the last year:

  • Professional membership has grown nearly 30% in the past year, surpassing the lofty goal of 3,000 professional members set by HFSA’s Membership Committee.

  •  A significant part of this growth came from the trainee category, which is now fully complementary. (Even with these complimentary memberships, revenues from membership dues have increased 15% in the past year). This trainee growth is a great sign for the future of our society.

  • There was important growth within groups that HFSA focused upon in the past year, including pharmacists, PAs and nurses. Members in these groups have increased engagement opportunities through virtual and in-person networking events at our ASM.

  • Membership retention increased 13% this past year. As much as we want new members at HFSA, we also want to keep the members we have, so their retention speaks volumes about the value of their HFSA membership.

  • And HFSA patient membership has grown by 22%.

HFSA now has over 4,800 members - an all-time high! What do HFSA members receive for their membership in our society? Some of their benefits include:

  • Scientific Statements. The opportunity to participate in the development of heart failure scientific statements and guidelines.

  • HF Stats. A new microsite has just been launched where providers, researchers and patients can further explore the data in HF Stats. As the data and information in HF Stats continues to expand and deepen in the years ahead, the impact and uses of HF Stats will grow exponentially, including its impact on improving heart failure care for our patients.

  • Free access to CE Credits and Valuable Education. HFSA Heart Failure Seminars are always free for HFSA members, providing valuable education on timely topics and continuing education credits at no cost.

  • Heart Failure News Weekly. A weekly news feed on heart failure happenings.

  • Committee Membership. Influence policy, research and education in heart failure by becoming a member of a HFSA committee. Other volunteer opportunities include participation in government panels, becoming a speaker at a HFSA event, and more.

  • Visibility in the World of Heart Failure.  Abstract submissions, session proposals, articles for HFSA publications…all of these opportunities are available to you as a member of HFSA.

  • Fellowship. HFSA members are eligible to become fellows of HFSA. FHFSA designation sets you apart in the field of heart failure.

  • Awards. HFSA has numerous award opportunities for members, including the Distinguished HFSA Member Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, JNC New Investigator Award, Nursing Awards, Outstanding Heart Failure Care Team Award, and more.

  • In-Person Connections. Build relationships, create new connections and seek collaboration opportunities at in-person networking activities during HFSA meetings and events.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration. Connect with and learn from heart failure professionals in many disciplines and career stages.

  • Industry Partners. Build meaningful relationships with corporate partners in the heart failure field.

In addition to these reasons, there are other tangible benefits of being a member of HFSA, including:

  • Subscription to the Journal of Cardiac Failure.

  • Meeting registration discounts on HFSA’s Annual Scientific Meeting, HF Seminars, the Board Certification Review, and the HF-Cert Bootcamp.

  • Discounts on a range of HFSA programs, including Heart Failure Certification, the HFSA Career Center and the HFSA Learning Center.

A value of more than $2,500!

Membership growth at the Heart Failure Society of America is a crucial component of our mission to improve heart failure care. Through important initiatives focused on education, practice, research, networking, and support for early-career professionals, HFSA continues to expand its influence and impact. As the society navigates the challenges and opportunities of a dynamic healthcare landscape, its commitment to advancing the field of heart failure remains steadfast, ensuring that we will continue to be a leading voice in the pursuit of better patient outcomes.

We hope you will consider recruiting your HF colleagues to the HFSA, where HF providers and experts call their professional home. See you in Atlanta!

Best,
