HFSA is proud to announce the Journal of Cardiac Failure (JCF), the society's official journal, has received its latest Impact Factor (IF)* of 9.9 - an increase from the 2024 IF of 8.2. This achievement reflects the strength of our scientific community and the collective contributions of HFSA members, authors, reviewers, and readers who continue to advance heart failure research and improve patient care worldwide.
IF is calculated based on the number of citations in a given year for the papers published during the preceding two-year period. For more about how IF is calculated, please visit Clarivate.com.
Measuring Impact
We recognize that true impact extends far beyond a single number. Co-Editors-in-Chief Drs. Robert Mentz and Anu Lala, have continued to focus on building and measuring impact across several factors.
Growing Scientific Excellence to Improve Patient Care
- Increasing manuscript submissions allow JCF to publish the highest-quality, clinically relevant research.
- Special Focus Issues continue to spotlight emerging topics, including Hemodynamics (October 2025) and Infiltrative & Inflammatory Cardiomyopathies (May 2026), with upcoming editions focused on Transplantation and Artificial Intelligence.
Expanding Global Reach and Impact
- JCF surpassed 1 million article downloads in 2025, demonstrating the journal's growing influence throughout the global heart failure community.
- The journal's commitment to timely, rigorous peer review helps accelerate the dissemination of important discoveries.
Investing in Community and the Future
- Through initiatives like the JCF Peer Reviewer Mentorship Program, the journal is developing the next generation of scientific reviewers and leaders.
- JCF-Intersections continues to foster multidisciplinary collaboration and new perspectives across cardiovascular medicine.
This achievement belongs to the entire heart failure community. Thank you for your continued dedication to advancing heart failure science and improving outcomes for patients and their families.
