The Heart Failure Research Foundation (Foundation) launched just over a year ago, but already has 164 supporters who have donated $135,000. This brings the Foundation to just shy of our first benchmark of $150,000, which will allow us to open the call for applicants to our Emerging Leaders Grants.
Our Emerging Leaders Grants program is open to all early-stage investigators who have completed their terminal research degree or clinical training and are within 5 years of their first faculty appointment. Our goal is to support new researchers in all areas related to heart failure, and this program is open to investigators in any field.
The Foundation hopes to grow on these past successes, while applying a more sustainable funding model that will combine the generosity of individual members, patients and families, and – eventually – industry.
“We owe it to our patients – and future patients – to invest in the next generation of heart failure research,” shares Javed Butler, MD, MPH, MBA and chair of the Fundraising Committee supporting the Foundation. “We need to nurture brilliant minds at the beginning of their investigator journey. Investing in innovative thinkers and ideas will allow us to transform the landscape of heart failure treatment.”
The Foundation can’t open our call for Emerging Leader Grant applicants without you – give your tax-deductible gift today. HFSA is covering 100% of the administrative costs of the Foundation, so every dollar you donate goes towards heart failure research.
