Share Your Support for a New CV Board During Critical Open Comment Period

Practice News Certification

Efforts by the the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) and the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the Heart Rhythm Society and The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions to create a new, independent Board of Cardiovascular Medicine under the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), continue to move forward.

The new Board would recognize the evolution of cardiovascular medicine into a distinct medical specialty and the need for a new competency-based approach to continuous certification – one that harnesses the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to sustain professional excellence and effectively care for cardiovascular patients.

As part of the application and review process, ABMS has launched a 90-day open comment period to allow stakeholders an opportunity to share their feedback and indicate their support for the new CV Board. The open comment period is a critical opportunity for you to share your support for the new Board and provide additional comments on how the potential CV Board would benefit both you and your patients.

Please consider submitting a comment to ABMS today. The deadline for submissions is July 24.

Visit CVBoard.org for more information on the new Board, including FAQs, videos and more. As ABMS releases additional guidance, we will provide further information and next steps accordingly.
