Seeking Hosts for Heart Failure Beat Podcast

Are you a part of the heart failure community and have a passion for podcasting? HFSA is currently seeking new hosts for it's provide podcast the Heart Failure Beat. Hosting the podcast allows you to develop professionally and build connections as you conceptualize episodes, engage in dialogue with leaders in the field, and investigate new research and scientific breakthroughs. Review qualifications and requirements below!

Host Qualifications

The Heart Failure Beat was developed by HFSA as a platform to have candid conversations about the topics that heart failure professionals face on a daily basis, while exploring breakthroughs in heart failure research and treatment. Hosts are volunteers who represent HFSA to a public audience across HFSA membership and listeners on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and more.  

Podcast hosts must have an interest in podcasting, a clinical or research background in heart failure (ex. physicians, APP, PhD, nurses, pharmacists), and meet the following criteria:

  • Able to take complex ideas and break them down into easy-to-understand stats, facts, figures, and key points
  • Engaged in the field and up-to-date on current trends, topics, news
  • Energetic and enthusiastic to lead conversations around fresh concepts, groundbreaking research, new scientific guidelines, intriguing published articles, etc. 
  • Skilled at reading news, research, and publications and finding the most interesting highlights
  • Excited to conduct interviews and explore topics 
  • Prepared to act as an ambassador of HFSA, acting accordingly with and in support of its mission and goals, including its policy on DEI
  • Exhibit fairness, an open mind and good judgement when engaging in potentially controversial topic areas
  • Represent “good citizenship” and generally refrain from using derogatory or defamatory language or expressing viewpoints in direct conflict with the HFSA mission

Requirements and Commitment

  • One (1) year, volunteer position as host, spanning 2022-2023
  • Quarterly calls with the podcast editorial team
  • 3-5 hours of work per episode, which includes:
    • Research
    • Reading published articles, scientific statements or guidelines
    • Question flow and "script" development
    • Review of drafted episodes (HFSA staff edits the episodes, we provide to you for review), and one (1) hour recording time per episode 
  • Communication with editorial team, HFSA staff liaison, guests, potential guests, etc. 
  • Open to participating in livestreamed podcast recordings and recordings onsite at the HFSA Annual Scientific Meeting
  • 6-12 episodes per year 
  • Active membership in HFSA in good standing through the duration of host duties
