Ramya Sampath, MD is an Internal Medicine resident at Yale New Haven Hospital. Her interests include geriatric cardiology, ethics in advanced heart failure therapeutics, and addressing global health disparities in cardiac care. At Yale, she was awarded the Dr. Peggy Bia Award for Outstanding Clinical Teaching and the Samuel D. Kushlan M.D. Award.
She completed a BA in Anthropology at the University of Chicago and completed her MD at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She was a Fulbright-Nehru Fellow in 2017-2018 studying palliative care delivery in India, and she has continued this work as a Board Member at Pallium India USA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to and advocacy for palliative care in India. She has published extensively in medical and humanities forums advocating for equitable access to palliative care worldwide. Her narrative work has also focused on improving the experiences of patients and family caregivers in the process of making medical decisions at the end of life.
