Systemic rheumatologic diseases can result in several conditions within the heart failure specialist’s scope, including myocarditis, fibrosis, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, and pericarditis. This session aims to equip healthcare providers with the knowledge and tools necessary to recognize, diagnose, and effectively manage inflammatory cardiac complications associated with connective tissue disorders.

A particular focus on multidisciplinary approaches and cardiorheumatology program development will be discussed by an expert panel.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the immunologic mechanisms by which systemic diseases impact the heart.
  • Review cardiomyopathy manifestations of autoimmune disease, including heart failure, myocarditis, and pulmonary hypertension.
  • Discuss the etiologies and contemporary management of pericarditis.
