The Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) is pleased to announce that the official 2017 Impact Factor (IF) for the Society’s flagship publication, the Journal of Cardiac Failure (JCF), has increased to 3.942, JCF’s highest impact factor in its history. The current IF represents the third straight year of increases. JCF ranks 42th of 128 in the Cardiac & Cardiovascular Systems category, part of the upper third.
The Impact Factor for a journal is calculated based on a three-year period, and can be considered to be the average number of times published papers are cited up to two years after publication.
Now in its 24th year, the JCF has recently focused on a re-structuring of its editorial pages, and has instituted new sections mini-focus issues and audio interviews with authors. The JCF recently published a highly regarded guideline this May, covering the Genetics of Cardiomyopathy (Hershberger RE, Givertz M, Ho CY, Judge DP, Kantor P, McBride KL et al. Genetic Evaluation of Cardiomyopathy – a Heart Failure Society of America Practice Guideline. J Card Fail. 2018; 24(5):281-302. DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cardfail.2018.03.004).
The HFSA would like to recognize JCF’s current Editor in Chief, Paul J. Hauptman MD, Senior Associate Editor, Michael W. Rich MD, Guest Editor Stephen Gottlieb MD, the international slate of Associate Editors, and the statistical consultants for their hard work and dedication to the Journal.
