Dr. Rich is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He serves as the Medical Director of the Mechanical Circulatory Support Program, as well as the Program Director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Fellowship Program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr Rich earned his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York where he graduated with Honors (Alpha Omega Alpha). He completed a residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts where he was awarded the Harvard Teaching Award. He completed fellowships in cardiology and advanced heart failure and transplant at the University of Chicago Hospital, Pritzker School of Medicine, where he also served as chief fellow. He joined the faculty at the University of Chicago before being recruited to Northwestern. In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Rich has broad research interests within the fields of heart failure and pulmonary hypertension and is actively involved in both single- and multi- center clinical trials. Prominent areas of research interest of his focus on right ventricular dysfunction from a variety of causes (including pulmonary hypertension and in the LVAD supported patient) as well as improving clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure and those treated with LVADs. Dr Rich is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Failure Society of America, an elected member of the ACCP Pulmonary Vascular Disease Steering Committee, and is currently serving as a voting member of the HFSA’s Board of Directors. Dr. Rich has published numerous research abstracts, manuscripts, reviews, and book chapters, and is frequently invited to deliver educational lectures at national and international meetings
