Dr. Jesus Alvarez-Garcia is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Heart Failure Section at University Hospital Ramon y Cajal in Madrid (Spain). He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Cardiac Failure – the official journal of the HFSA. He completed Medicine training at University of Salamanca and Cardiology Fellowship at University Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona, both in Spain. He obtained his PhD in Medicine at Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine in the PhD Program. He also completed a Postdoctoral fellowship at Mount Sinai Heart (New York). Jesus spends his clinical time at University Hospital Ramon y Cajal assisting with the care of patients with heart failure and ventricular assist devices. He is an active researcher at CIBERCV, the main research platform in Spain, involved in ongoing trials designed to inform the care of cardiac patients. He is an established mentor for medical students, residents and cardiology fellows.
