Dr. Jennifer Cowger is the Section Head of the Advanced Heart Failure Program at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, Michigan. She is an active member of the cardiogenic shock, HCM, amyloid and sarcoid programs. Outside of work, Dr. Cowger is engaged with various medical societies, including the American College of Cardiology (ACC), where she serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology Heart Failure (Nov 2023-present) and is on the Michigan ACC Board. Until 2023, she served as a deputy editor for the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation and was a board member of the ISHLT. She presently serves on the OPTN heart transplant leadership committee and is on the STS Intermacs leadership committee. She has participated in and/or led the development of key documents, including various LVAD guidelines, scientific statements, and consensus documents. She has dedicated much of her career to optimizing end-stage heart failure through left ventricular assist device support and presently has a national lead role in both the INNOVATE and the TEAM HF LVAD trials. Additionally, she studies right heart failure and cardiorenal syndrome.
