Volunteering for HFSA is a Special Commitment to the Heart Failure Community
Why does HFSA reach out to you about volunteering? Because HFSA needs volunteers to address our fundamental goal of reducing the burden of heart failure while also providing important services and benefits to our members.
A hallmark of our work as healthcare providers is the commitment we make to improve the lives of our patients and their families and volunteering for HFSA speaks loudly to this commitment. Membership in our society is a journey of learning and personal development. Whether it is through advocating for patients, improving your heart failure practice or advancing the next generation of heart failure research, volunteering at HFSA allows you to play a larger role in the heart failure community.
Importantly, diversity is a high priority for HFSA and should be reflected in the composition of our Board, its officers and our committees. But achieving that diversity only comes with diverse volunteers who join our ranks and speak up. To ensure that our society reflects our diverse membership, our decisions for leadership positions at HFSA are always made with that lens in mind.
Finally, volunteerism inspires and empowers the next generation of healthcare professionals, instilling in them the values of compassion, integrity and social responsibility. As volunteers ourselves, we engage in mentorship, education, and advocacy initiatives; we sow the seeds of innovation and excellence; and we nurture the next generation of heart failure leaders.
The volunteer cycle for 2024 is currently open. Volunteer opportunities are abundant and available to all HFSA members. There are openings on almost all HFSA committees, which cover a wide range of disciplines and initiatives, and the Board of Directors. If you are interested in volunteering your services to HFSA, more can be learned here.
And if you are already serving our association, thank you for all that you do for HFSA. And if you aren’t, we look forward to meeting you as a new volunteer!
