We are pleased to announce that the HFSA Board of Directors has selected this year’s new Officers and Board of Directors for the association.
Nancy Albert, PhD, CCNS, CCRN, NE-BC, FAHA, FCCM, FHFSA, FAAN, was named President-Elect.
Dr. Albert is the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Office of Nursing Research and Innovation- Nursing Institute; Cleveland Clinic Health System and Clinical Nurse Specialist, Kaufman Center for Heart Failure, Heart and Vascular Institute, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. Nancy will serve as President-Elect from 2019-2020, President from 2020-2021, and Immediate Past President from 2021-2022. Dr. Albert currently serves as Secretary at HFSA.
John Teerlink, MD, FHFSA, FACC, FAHA, FESC, FRCP, was selected as the Secretary for 2019-2020 to complete Dr. Albert’s term as she moves to President-Elect. Dr. Teerlink is the Director of the Heart Failure Program and of the Clinical Echocardiography Laboratory at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center in San Francisco, California and currently serves on the HFSA Board of Directors.
Mona Fiuzat, PhD, PharmD, FHFSA, was selected to serve a second two-year Board term. Dr. Fiuzat is Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine.
Colleen McIlvennan , DNP, ANP, FHFSA was selected to serve as the newest Board member at HFSA. Colleen is Assistant Professor, Medicine-Cardiology and Lead Nurse Practitioner Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation at the University of Colorado in Aurora, Colorado.
Upon completion of the upcoming HFSA Annual Scientific Meeting in Philadelphia (September 13-16, 2019) Biykem Bozkurt, MD, PhD, FHFSA, FACC, FAHA, FESC will become the new President at HFSA. Current President Randall C Starling, MD, MPH, FHFSA, FACC, FAHA, FESC, FHFA will become Immediate Past President.
