Webinar Description: This webinar will discuss the role of activity and diet in managing heart failure. Participants will learn about heart failure and the body, the benefits of exercise, the risks and consequences of not exercising and how to get started on an exercise plan. Diet is an important factor in managing heart failure and the webinar will discuss adequate nutrition, dietary restrictions, the impact of salt and water, and how to manage your overall diet effectively.
Who should attend: Heart Failure Patients, Caregivers and Family Members
Speaker Bio - Payman Zamani, MD: Dr. Payman Zamani is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Section of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Zamani has an active research program focused on understanding the limitations to exercise in heart failure patients and how these can be improved. He is an active member of the HFSA, currently chairing the Early Career/Trainee Committee, serving on the Programming Committee for the annual meeting, and Co-Chairing the HFSA’s “Future Leaders in Heart Failure Symposium.” Dr. Zamani graduated from Dartmouth College and received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed Internal Medicine training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and his general cardiology training at the University of Pennsylvania. He received additional training in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology at the University of California, San Diego.
The Patient Education Webinar Series is provided to patients, caregivers and families through a collaboration between the Heart Failure Society of America and Mended Hearts.
