To Members of the Heart Failure Society of America:
It is my honor to serve as President of the Heart Failure Society of America in the coming year. I look forward to working with the HFSA Board of Directors, HFSA’s committee members and the HFSA staff to continue to provide the high-quality programs and initiatives that you have come to expect.
As appropriate, we will continue to use the association’s Vision and Mission as our guiding light as we lead your organization.
Vision
To significantly reduce the burden of heart failure worldwide.
Mission
Provide a platform to improve and expand heart failure care through collaboration, education, innovation, research, and advocacy. We will accomplish this by empowering our members and the community at large through:
- Educating patients, providers and communities-at-large
- Cultivating a community of people interested in the delivery of heart failure care
- Advocating for quality of, and access to, heart failure care
- Fostering innovation and research
- Inspiring the next generation of providers and researchers
- Establishing partnerships, collaborations and strategic alliances to advance our mission
- Serving as a resource for government, private industry, health care providers and patients to facilitate the establishment of programs and policies that will better serve the patient
In the coming year, you will see continued growth and improvements in HFSA’s programs, including the Annual Scientific Meeting, JCF, the Optimal Medical Therapy in Heart Failure Certificate Program, and the Heart Failure Research Network.
You will also see new programs being launched at your association, including the Data in Heart Failure Initiative, the Heart Failure Research Fund, the Heart Failure Certification Program, and initiatives to help you as you practice medicine, to help educate patients and caregivers about heart failure, and to help address the challenge of disparities in health care.
To do this important work, we need to hear from you. If you have any input or ideas that you would like to share with the HFSA leadership, please email me at [email protected]. We want to ensure that your voice is heard as we make decisions about your association.
Thank you for this opportunity to lead your association. And thank you for being a member of the Heart Failure Society of America!
