CardioBites is one of HFSA’s newest education initiatives: Microlearning videos providing education for the heart failure care team in a quick, bite-sized, and mobile-friendly format.
Everyone learns differently. Some prefer in-person meetings, like HFSA’s Annual Scientific Meeting, some prefer 90-minute online seminars, like the recent HFSA HF Seminar on Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, and others prefer learning on the go… like CardioBites!
Each CardioBites module is less than three minutes, focused on a very specific topic, housed on the HFSA YouTube channel for easy, password-free viewing. CardioBites are designed to be quick, easy, simple, and informative.
I recently watched the modules… they were easy to access and filled with concise information on the topic. You can go here to view the current CardioBites offerings as well as see the schedule of upcoming topics covered in our two series.
The first series is on amyloidosis and features nine unique modules:
- What is amyloidosis?
- What are the signs and symptoms of amyloidosis?
- What are the most common types of amyloidosis?
- What do we know about the genetics of amyloidosis?
- How is amyloidosis diagnosed?
- Treatment and management of amyloidosis
- Treatment and management of ATTR
- Multidisciplinary care of amyloidosis
- Treatments on the horizon
Special thanks to Alnylam Pharmaceuticals for providing an independent grant for the first series. And thank you to the CardioBites Amyloidosis Planning Committee: Justin Grodin, MD, MPH, FHFSA, Kevin Alexander, MD, FHFSA, Christine Sailer, MD, and Nitasha Sarswat, MD.
The second series is focused on advances and treatments in HFpEF with generous funding provided by Novo Nordisk.
This series has four modules:
- What is heart failure with HFpEF and who does it impact?
- What is the clinical workup for diagnosing HFpEF?
- What are the phenotypes of HFpEF and how do they differ?
- What do current guidelines recommend for treatment?
The first HFpEF module was released in early November, with additional modules coming in December, January and February. Thanks to the CardioBites HFpEF Planning Committee members: Michelle Kittleson, MD, PhD, FHFSA, Freny Vaghaiwalla Mody, MD, Arunima Misra, MD, and Amin Yehya, MD, MS, FACC, FHFSA.
The newest CardioBites series will focus on SGLT2 inhibitors in heart failure. Stay tuned for more information and a launch in 2024.
