Originally from outside Chicago, IL, Dan Silverman is a heart failure and transplant cardiologist at the Medical University of South Carolina and Ralph H. Johnson Dept. of Veterans Affairs Health Care System in Charleston, SC. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois, medical school at Loyola University Chicago, residency at Loyola University Medical Center, general cardiology fellowship at the University of Vermont Medical Center, and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he remained on as faculty. His clinical practice involves care for advanced heart failure patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings, along with a specialized outpatient clinic focused on unexplained dyspnea and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). His clinical research program is focused on HFpEF and pulmonary hypertension, while he is also involved in basic/translational research focused on methods to reverse fibrosis in heart failure across the ejection fraction spectrum. In his free time he enjoys running, cycling, skiing, music, exploring our national parks, and traveling abroad.
