Charina Alcain, DNP, ACNP-BC, CHFN, FAAHFN, is a cardiology nurse practitioner at the University of Chicago Medicine with extensive experience in cardiovascular care. This includes eight years as an ICU nurse and over 20 years as an advanced practice provider. Her clinical expertise focuses on heart failure and cardiovascular disease management, with a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes through quality improvement initiatives, patient education, and evidence-based care. Charina is a Fellow of the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, a co-author of the AHA/ACC Scientific Statement on supervised exercise training in HFpEF, and a chapter author for the AAHFN Certification Review Book. Beyond her professional roles,  she is passionate about connecting with patients and colleagues through education and meaningful conversations that inspire better heart failure care.
