Dr. Andrew J. Sauer is a cardiologist, associate professor, and clinical trialist at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Originally from a farm town in Nebraska, he completed his medical school at the University of Rochester, followed by medicine training at MGH and fellowships at Northwestern, where he also served on the faculty. He has a decade's experience in advanced heart failure and heart transplant program building and leadership. Dr. Sauer’s passion is bent on exploring rural health care disparities and using digital health technologies to close the implementation gap. His research interests also include cardiometabolic disease and device based therapies intersecting with heart failure. He has served HFSA as national research committee member, co-developer of HF-Cert, and currently as Associate Editor for the Journal of Cardiac Failure.
