Ana Morales is an Associate Professor in Geisinger’s Department of Genomic Health and a board-certified, licensed genetic counselor with more than two decades of clinical experience in cardiovascular genetics. She is also a Translational Health Sciences PhD candidate with formal training in implementation science, team science, and diverse research methodologies. Her research focuses on addressing the underutilization of cardiovascular genetic testing, drawing on expertise in translational health science and implementation science.
Ms. Morales serves as the Implementation Science Lead for multiple national initiatives advancing genetic testing in cardiomyopathy and heart failure. She is the Implementation Science Lead for the Heart Failure Society of America’s REIMAGINE HF program, which promotes genetic testing for all patients with cardiomyopathy, and a co-lead for the NIH-funded Genomic Learning Health System (gLHS) Network’s second major project aimed at closing the implementation gap for cardiomyopathy genetic testing.
Ms. Morales has held national leadership roles characterized by strong collaborative engagement, including membership in the ClinGen Cardiovascular Disease and Population Genetics Working Groups. She served as the 2019 President of the American Board of Genetic Counseling, contributing to strategic organizational leadership and vision. She currently chairs the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute’s Standard 29 Working Group, facilitating collaboration among clinicians, laboratories, and stakeholders to improve genetic test utilization and integration into patient care.
