Dr. Alexa Kahn is a former 3rd-year Chief Resident in Internal Medicine, and the current 4th-year Chief Resident and Hospitalist in the Department of Medicine at One Brooklyn Health (OBH) Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center located in Brooklyn, New York. She is also Chief of Resident Research and Research Lead in Cardiology in the OBH Research Department within the Department of Medicine. She received her Undergraduate Degree, Bachelor of Science in Biology and Minor in Global Health Culture and Society from Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia. She then received her MD degree from American University of Antigua in Antigua and Barbuda. She participated in and presented research, “The Safety and Efficacy of Catheter-directed Thrombolysis and Mechanical Thrombectomy for The Management of Acute Submassive Pulmonary Embolism,” at the ACC.22: ACC’s 71st Annual Scientific Session & Expo.

Earlier this year, she was an accepted applicant in the ACC Women's Internal Medicine Cardiology Program and had the opportunity to engage in many webinars and virtual conferences in various subspecialties within the field of Cardiology. She had a unique opportunity to learn from a diverse group of leaders within the American College of Cardiology inspiring her to further explore the health inequities within her own community. Dr. Kahn is passionate about preventative cardiology, heart failure and overall working towards creating systems and strategies that focus on optimizing overall cardiovascular health for the patients of Central Brooklyn. She is motivated on working towards implementing a resident driven Heart Failure Resource and Education Center as part of the OBH 3-year ambulatory strategy to improve the 11-year life expectancy gap for 1-million people in Central Brooklyn.
