Session Proposals

Scientific Sessions make up the core of the meeting's program, delivering the most innovative, ground-breaking science from across the heart failure field. The 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting Program Committee invites you to submit proposals for sessions at the HFSA Annual Scientific Meeting 2023.

The session proposal submission deadline is currently closed. Proposals will not be accepted after the deadline. 

IMPORTANT:

  • The ASM Program Committee reserves the right to modify, combine, and revise all proposals, including both content and proposed speakers/moderators. 
     
  • Proposals that include multidisciplinary faculty are highly encouraged and will be given preference when the topic area permits.
     
  • NEW! Submitters can propose single presentations for topic areas. Select “Presentation Only” as the Submission Type.
     
  • Submitters are required to complete a disclosure to submit a session proposal.

Session Proposal Information

You will need the following information to complete the proposal submission process:

Session Information 
Each submission is required to provide the following information: 

  • Session Title (Character Count: 300)
  • Session Description (Character Count: 3,000)

Moderator/Speaker Information
Each submission is required to provide one moderator and one speaker per presentation. Alternates are not required, but highly encouraged.

Moderator and Speakers cannot be employed, a principal owner, and/or partner of an ineligible company.

What are ineligible companies:
Those whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients.

What types of companies are deemed “ineligible”?

  • Advertising, Marketing, or Communication Firms whose clients are ineligible companies
  • Bio-medical Startups that have begun a governmental regulatory approval process
  • Compounding Pharmacies that manufacture proprietary compounds
  • Device Manufacturers/Distributors
  • Diagnostic Labs that sell proprietary products
  • Growers/Distributors/Manufacturers/Sellers of Medical Foods and Dietary Supplements
  • Manufacturers of Health-Related Wearable Products
  • Pharmaceutical Companies or Distributors
  • Pharmacy Benefit Managers
  • Reagent Manufacturers/Sellers

STEP ONE: Login to the HFSA 2023 Session Proposal Portal

STEP TWO: Submit Disclosures
Individuals who serve on a committee or in any position to influence the content of a certified CE activity must disclose all financial relationships with any ineligible companies that have occurred over the past 24 months. You will not be able to submit a session proposal without completing a disclosure.

How to Submit a Disclosure
Click your name in the top right menu and select “Disclosure” from the drop-down menu. You will be redirected to the HFSA Disclosure Portal to submit your disclosures. To finalize your disclosures, complete the “Finalize My Disclosure" step. Failure to complete the “Finalized My Disclosure” step will result in an incomplete submission.

After completing your disclosures, click “Return to Dashboard” to return to the Submission Portal.

STEP THREE: Submit a Submission

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “+ Add new” next to Proposals
    Note: If you do not see the “+ Add new” button, confirm that the deadline date did not pass, or your disclosures have been finalized. 
  2. Complete the following submission steps:
    • Session Information
    • Moderator Information (minimum of two primary moderators)
      To add additional moderators: Enter the information of one moderator in the “Moderator” step and select “Submit and Continue”. The portal will update, and users can select “Add Moderator (Primary)” to enter an additional moderator.  
    • Presentations & Speakers
      To add multiple presentations: During the “Presentations & Speakers” step, complete the fields and select “Save and Continue”. The portal will update, and users will be able to add additional presentations by selecting “Add a Presentation”. Users will have the opportunity to update the presentation order after submitting multiple presentations.  
      To add alternate speakers: After completing a “Presentation and Speaker” entry, the portal will allow users to select “Add Alternate”. Note: The speaker submitted with the presentation will be listed as the primary speaker. 
    • Submitter Information

STEP FOUR: Receive Confirmation 
After the submission is complete and finalized, you will receive an onscreen confirmation with a proposal number. Please save this for your records. You will need your proposal number when making changes to your submission.

Review Process

All proposals will be considered by the ASM Program Committee go through a rigorous and multi-stage review process in a genuine effort to ensure the best possible scientific program containing high-quality sessions. The ASM Program Committee reserves the right to modify, combine, and revise all proposals, including both content and proposed speakers/moderators. 
 
It is important to stress that only a fraction of the submitted proposals can be selected for inclusion in the final HFSA 2023 program. 
 
The 2023 Advance Program and initial speaker invitations will be announced later this year. Please check the 2023 HFSA Annual Scientific Meeting website for updates.
